Tommy began Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in 2003 as a freshman at University of Oregon. He found the honesty and challenge that Brazilian Jiu Jitsu offered to be exciting. In 2005, he took his first MMA class and made his debut as a Mixed Martial Artist in 2007 at Portland’s local FCFF. By 2010, he had won and defended his FCFF Lightweight Title and in the same year was awarded fighter of the year. He ended his martial arts career as a professional fighter with a record of 10 wins and 2 losses to begin the next chapter of life – Fatherhood. The end of 2015 marked a pivotal moment, with a new baby boy in the ranks, Tommy received his black belt from Michael Chapman. He is dedicated to his students, his consistency and guidance have greatly affected the jiu jitsu community within the city of Sherwood.
